Missing My Hong Kong Construction Colleagues

Recently I was going through photos on my phone and found many group photos from the SSM518 construction site. It brought back a lot of memories.
That was my first job. As an AE, I was nervous the first time going to site. But I was lucky to meet a group of very positive Hong Kong colleagues.
They didnt treat me as a clueless newbie. They treated me like a brother.
Working Together
The best times were when we did tough work together. Carrying concrete cubes in the hot sun, our clothes soaked through in minutes.
Hong Kong weather changes fast. One moment blazing sun, next moment heavy rain. We walked through mud in rain gear, checking drawings while coordinating MiC installation.
Despite the hardship, we joked around, shared cold drinks. That feeling was real.
Playing Together
The best trip was when we went to Macau together. Taking off the reflective vest and hard hat, putting on casual clothes to visit the Ruins of St. Pauls and try our luck at the casino.
That relaxation and bond cant be replicated in an office.
Gratitude
I really appreciate these Hong Kong colleagues. They taught me how to read drawings, how to communicate with subcontractors, and how to survive in Hong Kongs fast-paced construction environment.
That one team spirit made me, a newcomer to Hong Kong, feel belonging for the first time.
Now, even though we work on different projects, those dusty, rainy days in Yuen Long remain my most precious career memories.
