Many fellow mainlanders came. We all had similar backgrounds - mainland graduates, working in Hong Kong, facing a new environment.

HKIE seniors shared practical advice: how to get licensed, how to adapt to the work pace, how to communicate with local colleagues.

One senior said something that stuck with me: In Hong Kong construction, technical skills are 30%, communication is 70%.

What I Gained

1. Youre not the only one confused. Others have been through this too.

2. The construction industry in Hong Kong has opportunities, but you need to learn and adapt.

3. Networking matters.认识a few people means someone to ask when you need help.

That night, I added several people on WeChat. Two of them became my closest friends here.

Last January, HKIE invited me to their Welcome Reception for Mainland Construction Graduates.
